Action taken to the comment sent to our group: Almost immediately we have gained the support of ASYO... very content with Burton's program and has seen a 90 plus percent improvement over the schools being used. This improvement was told to me by Andy. So
we now have the school support of our off leash program!!

Good Morning,
I wanted to alert you and your followers to the new San Carlos Dog Park located at Central Middle School Field - hours of operation are predominantly on Saturdays.
I have taken photos of the field this past Saturday with around 6 dog owners centrally located in the field and their dogs running off leash.
This past summer [2011] the San Carlos AYSO organization spearheaded an effort [along with assistance from San Carlos Little League, San Carlos Youth Softball Association and San Carlos United] to renovate Central Middle School Field to the tune of $25K.
These organizations are fund-raising to help the school district renovate fields for the benefit of children attending the schools and also for children participating in after school sports programs sponsored by both the schools and the four sports organizations mentioned above. They are also paying annual maintenance fees to an outside contractor to maintain the school fields properly moving forward.
I suspect the people bringing their dogs to the school grounds to run free know it is illegal for them to do so since signage is posted at school property entrances. I think the "inconvenience" of Burton being closed on Saturdays has driven them to Central.
It is unhealthy for the school children to be subjected to feces left on the school grounds by these irresponsible dog owners.
Additionally, the incidental damage to the field by "playful dogs" and their ball chasing undermine the enormous efforts that have been made to renovate these fields to the betterment of our school children.
The school district along with many "concerned citizens" are initiating an effort to stop dog owners from using all school fields as dog parks.
I appreciate the forum you have created with this webpage and I am asking you to get the word out to your followers that San Carlos School District will be vigorously enforcing the "No Dogs Allowed" on School District Property moving forward. The school superintendent, Craig Baker has asked the San Mateo Sheriff's San Carlos Branch to patrol the area and to issue citations. Additionally, there are a number of "concerned citizens" who live near the schools who will be calling the Sheriff's Office to report people who are allowing their dogs to use the school fields as a dog park.
I know you have a thankless and daunting task in educating all of the irresponsible dog owners so all of us who are responsible dog owners can take advantage of all of your hard work.
Thank you for all your efforts.
Sincerely,
andy
